The studio site is hand-written HTML and CSS with no build step beyond a checker. No framework. No deployment magic. One stylesheet. One motion script. Hosted on Cloudflare Pages with offline support via a service worker.
Philosophy
The site is simple because the work is clear.
This site is not a vehicle for web technologies. It is a surface for the product and the studio practice. Hand-written HTML keeps the markup honest. One stylesheet keeps the design coherent. No build step means less to break and easier to audit.
Every page is a static document. Every link is a real URL. The structure is visible in the markup. View source should be legible.
Type
Three font families, each with purpose.
Instrument Serif carries the body copy and longer-form writing. Young Serif appears in headers and callouts where visual weight matters. Schibsted Grotesk handles interface labels, navigation, and the runhead. Fragment Mono is reserved for code and technical references.
Hosting
Deployed to Cloudflare Pages with edge caching.
Static files served globally. No origin servers. No backend logic. The service worker handles offline fallback and cache strategies. First visit loads the full site; subsequent visits work offline indefinitely.
Privacy
Nothing is collecting your behavior here.
No analytics. No trackers. No cookies. No consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. Cloudflare may log request metadata, but that is infrastructure, not surveillance.
Offline durability
The site remains readable after first load without a network.
A service worker precaches the entire site and all assets on first visit. Return anytime, even without a connection, and the full site is available. This is not a feature. It is a requirement of the trust claim we make about Garden.
Stack
Static HTML. One stylesheet at 34KB. One motion script at 12KB. Service worker for offline. No dependencies, no package.json, no npm.
Privacy
Nothing to accept. No analytics. No trackers. No cookies. No data collection. No behavior profiling. The only measurement is whether the site is working.
Durability
Works offline after first load. Every page stays under 100KB of markup. No bloat. No unnecessary requests. The site works on connection loss and stays fast on slow networks.
